Dayana's Story

Dayana is facing the terrifying possibility of deportation and being sent to a country she has never known. She fears for her safety as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and worries about being too "American" to fit in anywhere else. Dayana needs urgent legal help to have the best chance of staying with the friends, family, and community that mean so much to her.

The funds raised will help cover the $15,500 needed for an immigration attorney specializing in deportation, and $1,000 to offset lost wages while she navigates hearings during this difficult process.

Dayana's first memories are here in the United States, where she has lived since early childhood. As a teen, she escaped abusive guardians who used her undocumented status to control her. She worked hard, excelled in her freshman year at UCRS, and hoped to continue her education. However, documentation issues forced her to withdraw. She's an active member of her community, volunteering at elementary schools, providing pro bono cleaning for the elderly, and helping the homeless.

Dayana's guardians' mishandling of her undocumented status is complicating the legal process and requires specialized legal representation. With proper representation, Dayana will have a chance to remain here, continue her education, and keep building her life. Please consider giving if you can and sharing this fundraiser to help Dayana stay.
